Colon Cancer Prevention - Colon Cleansing

August 28, 2008

The number one risk for colon cancer is age. Colon cancer has also become one of the most curable forms of cancer through improved screening and diagnostic techniques. If colon cancer is caught in its earliest stage, the rate of cure could be as high as ninety percent. Since colon cancer is also one of the most common forms of cancer, early diagnosis can save many lives. Good diet and exercise play a big part in preventing colon cancer as well as most other illnesses. With proper diet and exercise, colon cancer could prove to be the most preventable cancer.

Researchers are looking at the effects of curcumin (found in turmeric, a spice used in curries), resveratrol (found in red wine), ginger, and the Mediterranean diet on the development and growth of colon cancer. Many have found ginger to be particularly soothing to the digestive system, in both crystallized form and as ginger tea.

What Are Hemorrhoids and How Can I Treat Them?

August 28, 2008

Hemorrhoids is a common condition and it afflicts thousands of people day in and day out. You may have never had an instance of hemorrhoids, and may be wondering if you are possibly having one now. Let’s take a look at some of the indicators to tell whether you may have this affliction, and some simple remedies to deal with them. This information is given as heath and nutritional in nature, and as always, seek professional medical advice before using any information.

The term hemorrhoid refers to a condition when the veins around the anus or rectum become swollen and inflamed. This usually results in eruptions and inflammation in this area which is not only painful but typically is dry and itchy as well. Not only do you experience pain, but there is also a great deal of emotional stress. Hemorrhoids caused Napoleon to sit side-saddle, sent President Jimmy Carter to the operating room, and benched baseball star George Brett during the 1980 World Series. Over two thirds of all healthy people reporting for physical examinations have hemorrhoids.
