Sun worshipers that cannot afford to be on a permanent vacation can now use tanning booths whenever they wish to maintain that golden brown look. However, with more and more research coming out on the dangers and the risk of skin cancer, some are now turning to alternatives to the dangerous skin damaging practice. Across America (and other countries) there has been in increase in artificial techniques with spray tanning high up on that list. Although bronzing agents have been around for many years, they tend to leave streak marks unless professionally applied.

There are manufacturers now that offer spray tans that you can apply yourself. Whatever type of fake tan you intend to use as a regular method, there are a number of things that can help to make it last longer and improve the look. Probably the most important aspect and the first one to carry out is getting rid of the dead skin on your body by exfoliating. Fake tan applications that have been done without this vital step are easy to spot as the recipient has light patches in the tan where the dead skin has fallen of.

When that is done, it will be necessary to moisten the skin by applying a good moisturizer all over. Always, always, always wear disposable surgical gloves when applying a self tanning cream etc. unless you want people to see the orange palms which you will most certainly have when you have finished. Another tip, often ignored or forgotten, is to ensure that only a light coat is applied to the backs of the hands, feet and the joints as they show up darker and let everyone know that you have used a lotion or cream. Where a spray tanning system has been used it is quite normal, once it has been applied, to use some sort of towel to wipe any excess so streaking does not occur.

To avoid any smears, marks or cracking, you will need to relax and remain still, while the tanning agent dries. The problem you will have afterwards during this drying time is what to wear because if you wear something expensive that you like, it will probably become stained and won’t come off.

You should choose something dark and also maybe something you don’t particularly care for until the excess is worn off. Now that you have this information it should be much easier having a fake tan without anyone knowing.
