The Complexities Of Hoodia Explained

May 13, 2008

by Chris Channing

For anyone who has been overweight or obese in the past, or is currently so, the hoodia plant has made very interesting impacts on the dieting world that such types should check into. This new revolutionary dieting substance is an all natural way to slim down into a smaller size- with some very profound effects that are rather astounding.

The cactus-like plant that is hoodia is actually called hoodia gordonii. This plant has given many overweight patients a new chance at becoming slim, even though the plant itself has been used for many years by African desert tribes as a way to keep hunger away as they try and find new sources of food an water. Ironically, this same effect would be used for a completely different reason in today’s society.

While hoodia may be a plant and devoid of any man-made interaction, scientists are now trying to find out how hoodia works and how to duplicate it for use in dieting pills. While this has yet to occur, the hoodia plant currently has no side effects, is perfectly safe, and the only thing that will come as a result of consuming the plant is a noticed loss in appetite or thirst.

The basic premise of hoodia is to trick one’s mind into thinking that he or she is actually full. Studies show that patients who took the drug saw a noticeable down shift in hunger, patients got full quicker, and patients would commonly go a longer period of time before feeling hungry again.

As if the hoodia plant couldn’t be any more mysterious, it has been proven that the plant is not a stimulant. Many of today’s dieting pills are stimulants, as this will help increase one’s metabolism and also get patients more active. As hoodia is neither, and devoid of side effects, it has essentially gained much esteem and acclaim by the dieting community.

In comparison to other dieting pills and weight loss drugs, hoodia is quite an alternative. Other diet pills require patients suffer though embarrassing or painful side effects such as headaches and dizziness. Often times, the common diet pill might not even work for every patient. Because of the unreliability of most diet pills, it is expected that hoodia is going to make a huge impact on the dieting world.

Consumers who are interested in trying the hoodia plant should take careful note that only one specific type of the plant will help. This specific name of the plant is hoodia gordonii- anything else related to the hoodia family of plants will not work as studies show. Thus, consumers should be wary of websites or sources selling other types of hoodia plants.

In Conclusion

As it would seem, hoodia is the substance that the dieting community is in dire need of. It has been used as an appetite suppressant, and will continue to do so as the popularity of this plant goes to the top of the dieting topics.
