Can Restylane Injections Be a Replacement For Surgery Procedures?

No. The answer is a very emphatic no. Restylane cannot replace surgical procedures but it can be used in conjunction with surgery to fill out the wrinkles that cannot be removed by surgery.

Various surgery procedures such as lifts will typically generally rejuvenate and tighten loose skin. Restylane and Botox are derma fillers. These type of derma fillers will fill in areas of the skin to give your a younger more appealing look.

If you have a plastic surgery procedure such as a face lift to remove wrinkles and excess skin, you will have a recovery period and you will have to go through some pain. Unlike face lifts and other cosmetic procedures, restylane injections are not painful nor is their a long recovery period. This is why the popularity of derma fillers have exploded.

Surgery and restylane procedures can be performed on the patient but they may have to be staggered, i.e. they cannot be used at once and the same time. It is for the doctor to decide the procedure. Surgery and restlyane complement each other but do not replace each other. Each procedure has its own plus and minus points. The doctor has to be consulted and a thorough discussion on the kind of therapy to be used has to be decided. Maybe a combination of surgical and derma filler procedures may fetch the best results. It depends on the patient, his age, his doctor and his body structure.

Some people do not believe in dermal fillers such as restylane. However some situations such as having sensitive skin will not allow them to have these type of procedures performed. Restylane does not produce any type of severe side effects but people with sensitive skin may opt for a face lift instead.

Restylane is where hyaluronic acid gel is injected into the area to be treated. This hyaluronic gel is similar to the hyaluronic acid present in our bodies. Hence pre testing for allergy is not needed in this form of treatment. The gel attaches itself to water molecules and fills up the gaps, which have caused lines or wrinkles in the patient. Restylane then remains there for about six months and then gets absorbed or removed through natural means.

Certain surgery procedures such as face lifts require sutures, anesthesia and long recovery period and other possible complications. This is why restylane and other derma fillers have exploded in popularity. Their really is no recovery period, anesthesia or any complications that are related to derma fillers.
